The Ace Hotel is dramatic, warm, retro-school chic.
This from a reader review of the Ace, which is the hotel surmounting The Breslin restaurant that we were talking about the other day.
We just quoted this quote to say that the first time we read it we thought it said "Drama-school chic".
This would have involved everyone wearing leotards and the room being very large, barren, and cold, with a rickety piano in the corner and some lovely Miss Torso hippety-hopping around in toe shoes on the stage.
Add a cloud of cigarette smoke hiding two directors and a Costume Mistress, and we're back in the happy squalor of our Dramatic teenage years.
But oh, was it cold!
